Before your appointment

Your GP or healthcare practitioner has booked you into an appointment with the Kirklees Talking Therapies Service. You should have been advised of the time and date of your appointment. If you are unsure, please contact your GP surgery who will confirm this for you.

Please can you ensure that your details held by your GP are up to date inlcuding your phone number, address and email address. Otherwise we may not be able to contact you for your planned appointment.

You will receive some information and questionnaires ahead of your appointment, please can you complete these in advance of the appointment.

Information about your appointment

Talking Therapies is a service that offers therapies for common mental health problems, primarily anxiety and depression. We offer a range of therapies, and the purpose of your appointment is to consider your main difficulties and which, if any, of our therapies would be most suited to your needs. If Talking Therapies is not the right service for you, we would also signpost and support your referral to other organisations.

Your appointment with the Talking Therapies service will be conducted by telephone. Expect to be contacted by a withheld number at the time of your appointment. The appointment will last for around 45 minutes. Please ensure you are in a quiet and private place to take the call.

As a healthcare provider, the support you receive from our service is confidential. We would only share information where we were concerned for your wellbeing or others. As your referrer, we would usually notify your GP of the outcome of your appointment.

If you need to cancel your appointment, you can contact your GP surgery to rearrange or you can contact the Talking Therapies Service directly and you will be offered an alternative time.

If you do not attend your appointment, we will discharge you back to the care of your GP.

If you have any questions or would like to request further information, please contact the Talking Therapies Team on: 01484 343700.
