Talking Therapies

NHS Kirklees Talking Therapies Team has provided NICE guidelines-compliant, evidenced-based therapies to people in the Kirklees area since 2009.

Living with a long-term condition such as diabetes, chronic pain, endometriosis or muscular skeletal conditions is a very common experience. We often find that people can experience problems with low mood and anxiety, which can in turn make it harder to manage the physical health condition.

We specialise in helping people with long-term physical health conditions who are also experiencing problems with anxiety and depression. This can be addressed through the various therapies previously mentioned. Our practitioners undergo additional training to support people with long-term health conditions.

We offer an online 6 session Living Well with a Long Term Condition course presented by qualified therapists. This runs regularly throughout the year and is geared to help people learn to manage their low mood and anxiety as well as their physical healthcare needs.

•Week 1: How LTCs can impact mood and Behavioural Activation
•Week 2: Overcoming Traps & Managing Activity Levels
•Week 3: Sleep Hygiene
•Week 4: Overcoming barriers to Increasing Activity
•Week 5: Negative Thinking
•Week 6: Coping Techniques, Relapse Prevention and Signposting
